Camping with the cousins

We did our first annual camping trip with the cousins this weekend and it was quite an adventure. My sister and I packed up all the kids and all the gear and headed out to the site on Friday. We had the entire camp set up before the boys got there so we could all just hang out.
We had a camp fire, sang camp songs, roasted marshmallows, had deer in the field, took a hike, swam in the lake, played in the sand, and had an all around good time. Definitely to be repeated next year!

Happy Birthday Papa!

Last Resort Fire Department

On our way to Papa's big birthday supper we happened to run across the Last Resort Fire Department. What a gem! There were several antique fire trucks in there and the lady working was nice enough to outfit Baby Bubba in gear just his size. Check out the number 3 on his hat, it was chosen just for him since he was in fact, 3.

Birch Bay, here we come!

This weekend we headed up to Birch Bay with some friends to have a weekend away.
Three 3 year old boys together for the weekend is bound to be exciting.
Lots of fun though, and a fun trip to Granville Island.

How can it be? He's already 3?

It's so hard to believe that he can be 3 years old. We kept the party really small this year, just people he knows by name and sees at least every couple of weeks. Really, it was his friends which is also hard to believe. He's growing up so fast!!!

Happy Independance Day!!!

Wow, 4th of July already?
Today was a lot of fun. The Bubs is finally old enough to participate in the fireworks and to really enjoy them. We usually stay home on the 4th since we get such a good show from our neighbors. I swear they all invite their friends and family that live in firework-free counties and they all pool their funds since several shows around us look (almost) professional. This year was no different. We started early with the little poppers which were a huge hit. Later, after it got dark we pulled out the fire pit, hooked up with the neighbors for some smores and fireworks, and all was well until the inevitable sparkler burn.
It's almost like a right of passage though, as sad as it is. I still remember the 1st time I grabbed one of those hot metal sticks in the dark and got blistered from it. Some hugs and Toy Story Band-aids and we were right on track again.

Annual Grandbabies Night Out

This weekend was the Annual Grandbabies Night Out with Nana & Papa. This is it's 2nd year but we missed last year due to an untimely bout of the flu. So so glad we didn't have to miss this year. Or should I say Baby Bubba was glad he didn't have to miss this year. Look at all the fun there was to be had! Who would want to miss that?

And just for good measure, here's a few more of the blue ice cream he got.
His personality shines through, don't ya think?
